The School of Design within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks Part-Time Instructor to teach Fashion Design: Tailoring, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2024. FAS 322 focuses on the art of classic tailoring using advanced techniques and materials to change a flat piece of fabric into a three-dimensional garment with structure and shape. Students will first create a series of machine and hand sewn detail samples and then put these skills to practice tailoring a sample jacket and skirt. Students will ultimately design a collection of tailored apparel from which one jacket and one bottom will be chosen and created using appropriate tailoring techniques. The outcome of FAS 322 will be a series of sewn samples, a sample women’s wear tailored jacket and skirt, a professionally researched men’s or women’s collection, and one tailored outfit from the above collection.About The College of Visual and Performing ArtsThe College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University is committed to the education of cultural leaders who will engage and inspire audiences through performance, visual art, design, scholarship, and commentary.
