Statement of Purpose
A line cook is the chief supporting force of the culinary activity of NEXUS Club New York. A line cook is a working and productive member of the kitchen team. A line cook is responsible for working closely with the Sous Chefs and Executive Chef to deliver the highest quality food and service at all times. A line cook is responsible for the execution of all culinary operational procedures.
Primary Duties
Read, understand and execute recipes to the standard set by the chef team.
Set up and break down a station before and after service.
Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and organization are maintained in the kitchen at all times, without exception.
Follow all sanitation and health department codes and company checklists.
Write and follow daily Kitchen Production Checklists.
Conduct Station Checks to ensure quality and par levels of prepared foods.
Track inventory and order product as needed.
Ensure that all product received is processed via approved NEXUS Club New York Inventory control procedures.
Lead Family Meal planning and production.
Follows the example set by the chefs, accepts guidance and is a positive member of the team.
Position Characteristics
Displays a pleasant and cheerful disposition. Must maintain a high level of integrity. Is able to adapt in difficult situations, solve problems and make decisions when necessary. Shows an eagerness and capacity to learn. Can be relied upon to complete tasks. Must possess the ability to communicate via written and oral communication with the culinary team.
Education and Experience
Food Handler’s Permit is desired. Culinary degree or 2 years of related work experience required. Must have basic math skills and be capable of operating department equipment.
