We are seeking a multi-skilled Product Designer II with a mastery of visual design, experience design, interface construction, branding, and storytelling. As a designer on Microsoft Edge you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming new and innovative ideas to real-time adjustments based on user feedback. We’re looking for a Product Designer II who’s driven by empathy for customers, and the desire to carry ideas from rough ideas to launch. The right candidate works independently and is a passionate collaborator with other design teams, engineering teams and marketing groups.Finally, this designer defaults to a making/building mindset – when in doubt we build something and test it. Produce visual designs from concept to delivery
Collaborate with product owners and development team members to shepherd end-to-end experiences from concept to ship for products
Define needs of product designs based on multiple factors such as user insights and business needs
Develop a synthesis of user insights and compares with data to identify larger issues that may not be apparent for user desires
Prototype for new products under the guidance of senior team members
Prepare estimated production timelines
Collaborate with Engineering to aid in successful design implementation and performs Quality Audits (QAs) to help them ensure "pixel perfect" or detailed designs for each iteration
Create visual design documents including mood boards, storyboards, creative briefs, 3D models, product renderings/visualizations, color and materials design, motion studies, iconography, illustrations, layouts, and redlines for an assigned product, tool, or service
Create wireframes, journey maps, user jobs and scenarios, task flows, and personas in support of interaction designs for software-based experiences under the direction of a senior team member
Use a prescribed design system (e.g., content templates, icons, form design, UI controls, navigation models, design trends)
Communicate with peers and managers in their studio team
Organize communication with cross-disciplinary teams inside and across stages of design and development
Recognize and communicate the user needs to team members and recommend ideas to create a compelling narrative for the product while exploring new and interesting ways of telling stories
Facilitate fundamental tasks on projects with creative team members, program managers, and developers (e.g., the triad/quad) to define and iterate new and existing product features
Participate in one or more studies at a time and collaborate, create, and help the team deliver product design results.
Contribute to the success of others and influence team members in support of product design impact
Influence designer and non-designer collaborators, lead interns and/or vendors to create clarity for others, and participate in interviews

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
Additional/ Preferred Qualifications
3+ years experience shipping games or products and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.

Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
