DescriptionLOB/Portfolio: Energy International Development/Energy EfficiencyLocation: US/RemoteAre you an expert on the topic of embodied carbon in buildings? We have a role for you. We’re currently hiring an expert who can leverage their technical expertise in life cycle assessment and supply chain sustainability, especially for commercial building products and commercial building construction.We are looking for someone to work with us remotely on an as-needed basis , with the flexibility to work from 0 to 20 hours per week .ResponsibilitiesAs a Part-Time On-Call Technical Expert, you will;

Provide in-depth technical expertise to support U.S. federal government agencies in developing and managing programs to reduce embodied carbon in buildings.

Identify and engage with varied stakeholders relevant to embodied carbon in buildings.

Contribute to ICF and client thought leadership related to embodied carbon topics.

Connect ICF colleagues and federal government clients to other embodied carbon researchers and practitioners.

Prepare research, data, and analysis to meet client needs.

Perform quality assessment and quality control tasks on life cycle and embodied carbon assessments.

Potentially attend industry meetings or conferences to develop comprehensive summaries of discussions/presentations.

Create written summaries of conference proceedings and other materials, such as white papers.

Deliver products reflective of ICF and client standards.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related disciplines with experience in life cycle assessment.

10 years+ of relevant technical experience in developing and managing programs to reduce embodied carbon in buildings.

10 years+ of expertise in product and supply chain sustainability for building materials, including environmental product declarations.

Skills

High proficiency in interpersonal communication skills.

High proficiency and understanding of the latest research topics, technical challenges, policy developments, and market trends pertaining to embodied carbon and life cycle stages of a building.

Preferred Qualifications

A PhD in engineering, environmental science, or related disciplines with a focus on life cycle assessment in construction and whole building analyses.

20+ years of relevant technical experience.

In-depth knowledge of one or multiple embodied carbon and life cycle assessment tools such EC3, GREET, Athena, TM 65 and/or OpenLCA.

Technical consulting or peer reviewer experience for U.S. federal government agencies.
