Shelter Support Staff
Vermont, Vermont, 05401 Vermont USAThe Residential Aide assists in developing the therapeutic program and treatment plan by helping to create a therapeutic environment. Through direct service, the Residential Aide collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team in achieving the goals of the residential program and the clients who reside there. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- From Facility:
Facilitate screenings and intakes for those seeking shelter
Possess strong understanding of the shelter setup and policies and ability to assess safety needs Work closely with the Community Resource Center, outreach teams and other shelter providers to ensure coordination and communication Work with the Shelter Manager and Assistant Shelter Manager to assist in obtaining donations for meals, clothing, basic necessities Assist with regular statistical and programmatic reporting requirements. Assist guests in keeping the shelter clean, safe and comfortable. Respond to emergency situations in a calm, effective manner and report all shelter issues to the Shelter Manager and Assistant Manager Ensure site-upkeep and daily cleaning is carried out; including common spaces, hallways, entryways, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Ensure sanitary conditions for sleeping accommodations related to cots, bedding/linens, etc. Ensure shelter guests are directed to warming centers and meal distribution during daytime hours Engage in recommended professional development opportunities as offered Participate in routine staff meetings, regular supervision, and programmatic meetings Represent The City in a professional manner in accordance with our mission, beliefs and values Other duties as requested.Minimum Requirements:
Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences preferred NOT REQUIRED
One year relevant experience in a residential treatment setting highly preferred
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (per state or client requirements)
Current valid driver’s license (per state or client requirements)
Crisis prevention course certified preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
