The Clinical Nurse on the Hospital Medicine G12W GU/Breast/General Internal Medicine unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting.Shift will be 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays required.MD Anderson offers our nurses:

Three 12 hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year (minimum)

$8,320 annual inpatient differential

The Hospital Medicine unit is a 30 bed unit providing care to medical oncology patients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, beast and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, and treatment related side effects; the administration of chemotherapy, bio immunotherapy and targeted therapy; and patient and family teaching. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resourcesEDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.EXPERIENCED: No experience required. All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
