North Carolina, Wilmington, 28404 Wilmington USAJob Description SummaryThe EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining the specific aspects and compliance of health & safety issues for GE Vernova Nuclear. As part of EHS Team you will, provide support to EHS Leader and site Operations in maintaining compliance and implementing GE Vernova EHS programs. A significant part of this role will be providing competent technical EHS advice and directions across all functions. This individual will also function in a team environment with other members of operational staff, Engineers, Technicians and Hourly personnel to ensure EHS program implementation and compliance.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
Provide technical advice and direction on health and safety initiatives at the Wilmington site for assigned program areas.
Responsible for leading EHS compliance for the Services Component Operations (SCO), site facilities, contractor safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs.
Support necessary programs to assure compliance with OSHA, nuclear industrial and environmental protection requirements.
Provide support and guidance to site supervisors to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.
Develop and lead training programs for assigned program areas.
Provide project management as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems to assure compliance.
Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships site operations personnel, site leadership and with regulatory agencies.
Track site progress against EHS metrics and goals.
Participate in EHS compliance program audits and Kaizen/Lean Action Workouts.
Perform incident investigations, develop corrective actions and lessons learned.
Function on the site emergency response organization as an EHS Advisor.
Willing to provide coverage in other areas of the EHS team when needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent preferably in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be able/willing to relocate to Wilmington, NC.
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.
An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Travel, approximately 10% or less.
Must maintain after hours cell phone for 24/7 availability.

Prior experience with controlled documentation/documentation change management.

Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the plant site.
Ability and willingness to obtain/maintain Emergency Organization (EO) qualification(s).
Experience with EHS programs/data bases, including Benchmark/Gensuite applications, ComplyWorks.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT system.
Ability to negotiate successfully with regulatory agencies.
