Dir, Outside Counsel Specialist
New York, New york city 00000 New york city USAThe Outside Counsel Specialist is a strategic partner and central point of contact for the legal and operations teams overseeing the Outside Counsel Program end to end. This position is responsible for overseeing the execution of program/business requirements while driving continuous improvement; and influencing decisions to support program objectives. The role must provide strategic support for daily activities including – reporting, compliance, monitoring, maintenance, committee support, engagement with panel firms and issue management, vendor management, annual RFP assessment and process, etc. In addition, this role serves as a key liaison with external and internal technology partners regarding the software and applications that support the Outside Counsel Program and supports attorneys in creating RFPs for engaging outside counsel through AI-assisted technology.The Outside Counsel Specialist serves as a thought leader who drives a best-in-class strategic model while having the financial and operational savviness to proactively adapt to the changing priorities and business needs to ultimately control costs/drive positive budget results and help the business make better data-driven decisions. This role plays a critical role in partnering with – all levels of associates within Law & Policy to drive the lifecycle of the outside counsel service delivery model; with law firm CFOs to negotiate contracts; with the company’s Technology area to expand capabilities such as Artificial Intelligence (AI); and other key business areas (both internal and external).Key Responsibilities and Duties
Direct Outside Counsel Program end to end to strategically align with the business requirements and objectives
Advise senior leadership on strategic and operational decisions based on financial analysis
Influence the development of strategic improvements through analysis of progress and performance against set targets
Analyze and present program findings and recurring reports to Law & Policy department to manage budgets and influence key decisions
Consult with internal and external partners to drive process improvement and develop innovative solutions
Additional Responsibilities
Serves as a key liaison with Pursuit, and supports attorneys in creating RFPs for Pursuit.
