Full-time

Plymouth Church School is a non-sectarian, independent private preschool with 170 children housed on the historic Plymouth Church campus in Brooklyn Heights. For more than 30 years, Plymouth has been a special place where young children are encouraged to explore and ask questions about the world around them. Our young learners, ages 2 to 6, benefit from a child centered approach to education that allows each child to be challenged in a nurturing environment that emphasizes hands-on learning and an emergent project based curriculum. At Plymouth we highly value and integrate the arts throughout our programming through intensive collaboration with working artists. Our school enjoys a beautiful setting with large sunlit classrooms and multiple outdoor spaces for children to explore the natural world.

Time for Twos Teacher: We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and caring individual to join our warm and inclusive community as a Head Teacher. In Time for Twos, our youngest children explore and play together in a warm, safe environment while learning how to be part of a school community. Each class follows a preschool schedule and includes open ended play, art activities, circle time, stories, music, snack, and gym time. Children are accompanied by a parent or caregiver. We support a gentle separation process that is tailored to each child’s unique development. Adults must remain in the building for the duration of the class.

The Time for Twos teacher will plan, organize and implement a developmentally appropriate program in a learning environment that guides and encourages toddlers to grow in all developmental domains and encourages independence as children begin a gentle separation from their parent or caregiver. The teacher works closely with families to build trust, support children through the separation process and nurture positive relationships with parents and caregivers.

This is a parental leave position beginning in January 2025 and will run through the first week of June.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a college degree, teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and classroom management skills, and experience planning and implementing curriculum.

At Plymouth Church School, salary is determined by an equitable salary scale established for all teaching staff and is commensurate with education, state certification and years of experience.

Plymouth Church School is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, gender, age, marital status, disability, national or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.

How To Apply: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume.
