We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive Sr. Research Program Coordinator P-RSS who will be responsible for coordinating the peer research intervention for specified program(s) and providing individualized P-RSS for the Center for Substance Use and Infectious Disease Care Integration (Center). The role will support the conduct of long-term NIH-funded or other investigator-initiated research protocols and clinical trials. These activities will include provision of Peer Recovery Support Services, P-RSS-specific guidance for study protocol development and implementation, participant recruitment, and other administrative aspects of implementation science research-related issues.Center activities focus on improving outcomes for persons with substance use and mental health disorders with a focus on prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, particularly HIV and viral hepatitis. Research involves epidemiology, qualitative and quantitative research to understand barriers and facilitators to effective care, and the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions for this highly marginalized population. Outreach to existing and desired community partners includes Baltimore City and Maryland Counties justice systems.The Sr. Research Program Coordinator for Peer Recovery Support Services will contribute to a productive, collaborative work environment that holds patients and coworkers, clinic staff, community partners, and providers in positive regard.Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Contribute to development of evidence-based P-RSS implementation aspects of research protocols and standard operating procedures.

Serve as an expert consultant for clinicians involved peer supported interventions with regard to current and evidence-based P-RSS.

Take primary responsibility for onboarding and training of new employees and junior research staff in the history, evolution and efficacy of P-RSS.

Participate in study meetings, provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on implementation issues.

Advise students on research rotations about P-RSS as assigned.

Recruit research participants including those actively using drugs from Baltimore and Maryland Counties into research studies.

Administer detailed questionnaire to assess drug use practices, social network (friends and family) characteristics and health care access related behaviors.

Maintain paper and computerized documentation as indicated in protocols.

Travel to intervention sites may be required.

Supervision of peer recovery specialists.

Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Peer Recovery Support Services

Participate in fundamental and on-going training in Evidence-Based skills and interventions, treatment and medication options for patients living with HIV, hepatitis, mental health and substance use disorders.

Provide patient-centered care and recovery support services as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, in the model of Collaborative Care Management (ongoing training provided).

Prepare for and participate in weekly scheduled meetings.

Maintain professionalism in interactions with clients/patients, medical providers and staff, community-based organizations and resources.

Demonstrate ongoing commitment to working as a part of a patient/person-centered Treatment Team based on a structured, protocol-driven, team approach to collaborative care.

Support patients to safely and effectively start taking buprenorphine or other medication for substance use treatment.

Work with patients according to specific project protocols and patient-developed goals.

Manage a caseload of patients using project-specific registries so that no one falls through the cracks. Use protocols goals to support a care plan agreed upon by the Treatment Team.

Use the Electronic Medical Record to look up important information about each patients care - training and support provided.

Complete documentation of interaction with program clients / patients correctly and within 1 business day of interaction.

Use a provided work phone in order to be available to assigned patients in caseload during Monday-Friday working hours.

Reporting and data entry needed via computer.

Maintain healthy boundaries and self-care.

Consistent adherence to COVID-19 and other infectious disease safety requirements.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrably strong organizational skills with attention to detail and independent follow through.

Facility with Microsoft software (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Teams), general computer and communications skills including telecommunications (e.g. Zoom meetings).

Knowledge of or capacity to quickly gain facility with EPIC (the JH EMR); REDCap, Qualtrics and other software programs as needed.

Flexibility with evolving research and/or clinical protocols.

Commitment to culturally humble care for medically vulnerable populations including but not limited to; people who use drugs and alcohol, people living with/at risk for infectious diseases, Black and Indigenous persons, LGBTQ+ persons, people experiencing current and or intergenerational poverty and/or trauma.

Able to positively contribute to a workplace where people of varied and diverse backgrounds and experiences work together and are served by the Center.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.

Three years related experience.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Current and maintained Certification as a Registered Peer Supervisor and Peer Recovery Specialist with Maryland State (If not currently certified must become certified in-line with concrete plan set forth with timeline approval by Center Program Manager)

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree preferred.

Strong data and detail/planning and management skills.

One year of related experience in clinical setting/clinical trials/human subjects research.
