Florida, Fort lauderdale, 33301 Fort lauderdale USAPlease Note: This is a 24 hour, live in position, meaning you will be living at the client's home for 3-4 full, 24-hour days at a time. Compensation for your service will be sent to you every 2 weeks via PayPal F&F, and will be based on the number of days you work as well as your performance during those days. You can see more about what the client is looking for in terms of performance, and how that translates to your compensation here (make sure to view both tabs).
To do this job to the best of your ability, you will be provided with the following (a video walk-through of the primary work location is available here):
Dedicated parking spot in the building
Private bedroom and bathroom, fast Wi-Fi, desk/workspace, and 4K external monitor
Access to amenities in/around the building during daily downtime (time to be coordinated with client in advance) – fitness center, pool, sauna, etc.
Well-stocked kitchen with high-protein and nutrient dense foods (you will manage online grocery ordering & receiving)
On-time compensation (every 2 weeks)
We are a hybrid team and we support a 35-year-old man who uses a powered/electric wheelchair and works as a consultant/advisor for a few US-based small businesses. We are looking for a very punctual, reliable, and attentive person to join his In-Person Assistant (IPA) team, and provide live-in caregiving/personal assistance for 3-4 days per week for the following types of activities:
Bed & toilet transfers (lifting is required and he is 125lbs/57kg)
Meal prep & feeding
Bathing & dressing
Home care, pet care, & routine appliance maintenance
Driving & accompanying (in his minivan)
You will need to be aware and available to assist at all times during your scheduled shift (see availability below) and in general you will manage your own schedule for accomplishing your responsibilities for the day. The client is usually quite occupied with his own work, and most of the items you need to accomplish for him are detailed in our shared online task list (accessible via Asana.com as well as in the Asana app). You will be expected to complete your tasks by the assigned due dates, and you will need to manage your own schedule to make this happen. You will also have access to his Google Calendar so that you can plan around your schedule and his schedule as needed.
Available Schedule
The following schedule is currently available:
Thursday 3 PM through Monday 3 PM (4 days total)
And the following schedule will be available starting May 1, 2025:
Monday 3 PM through Thursday 3 PM (3 days total)
The client works from home, which is generally in Miami (Brickell). He generally spends his summers away from Miami, splitting time between a suburb of Chicago & a small urban town about 30 minutes from Seattle. He likes to keep his home fairly warm (24°C/75°F) during the day because he gets cold easily, and he lives with 2 cats.
Since December 2024, the client has committed himself to a protein rich diet and a rigorous strength training program with an ex-military personal trainer. He is very happy that he has been noticing small, significant improvements in his physical independence, and hopes that will continue.
The client has an underlying neurological condition which caused him to need a powered/electric wheelchair since the age of 15. He had a lot of physical independence when he was younger, as he was able to drive and live on his own, and unfortunately he became a bit too consumed with work and neglected to take care of his body properly.
As mentioned, he uses a powered/electric wheelchair full-time because he cannot walk. He has very weak arm/legs, so he has difficulty caring for himself, and his core balance is limited, so it's important to be very cautious when moving him so that he does not fall and injure himself (we will teach you the routines and procedures in place to prevent this).
The client speaks English & Urdu fluently, speaks Spanish with a little difficulty, and he can understand Hindi & some Gujarati. He enjoys exercising, working on a variety of projects, standup comedy, EDM music, learning new things, experimenting with food, occasionally dining out, and being around family & friends.
Having had caregiver support since 2015, he is comfortable working with many different types of people. His preference is for someone who is very punctual, a proactive communicator, and exceptionally thorough in their work (details are very important). He prefers that you dress clean & comfortable – scrubs or uniforms could be acceptable per his discretion (he would need to review or select). He has formed good friendships with many of his former caregiver/assistants, and what they have all had in common has been their ability to focus on the work at hand and complete it at a high caliber, as opposed to being overly focused on socializing with him.
