Floral Wire Service Manager / Office Administrator Job description

Are you organized, enthusiastic, efficient, and professional? Do you love flowers, or better yet, have experience working in a busy retail floral shop? We're looking for the right person to "keep the trains running on time" at our bustling retail floral fulfillment center in Silver Spring, Maryland. Here's what an average day looks like for the Administrative/ Wire Service Manager:
Accept, process and print incoming wire service floral orders using FTD's Mercury POS system and hand them off to floral designers.
Answer phone calls from our network of floral partners to assist with questions regarding deliveries, rejections, cancellations, etc.
Keep track of delivery zones, minimums, add-on products, and inventory to ensure fulfillment of orders.
Maintain an orderly and organized desk so nothing is left hanging at the end of the day.
Communicate with floral designers and drivers to resolve any issues as they arise.
Assist logistics manager at routing drivers and perform routine clerical tasks such as running reports for bookkeeper and manager, as needed.
A successful candidate will:
Have experience communicating with coworkers, customers and vendors/ partners over the phone and via email in a polite and professional manor.
Be comfortable with sitting at a station for much of the day and prefers doing tasks that others might find tedious.
Be organized and motivated to learn about using new technologies, quickly adapt and improve processes. We need a self-starter who has no trouble using a printer, email, software.
Ideally, have worked in a retail flower shop in a sales, customer service, administrative, or wire service capacity.
Be available to work overtime during flower holidays, such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas Eve, etc.
