Come build your career with us!Job Summary and QualificationsThis position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center an Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Mgr of Safety and Emergency Preparedness develops, implements and monitors compliance with Safety, emergency preparedness policies and procedures, and other applicable regulatory standards to ensure a safe environment. Conducts inspections and handles emergency situations related to safety and environmental health. The Mgr of Safety and Emergency Preparedness has the authority to intervene whenever conditions immediately threaten life or health or damage equipment or buildings.Safety:· Responsible to oversee the Safety Management Program for both the Presbyterian St Luke’s Medical Center (P/SL) and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (RMHC) at P/SL while continually evaluating its effectiveness.· Chair the Environment of Care Committee and the Executive Environment of Care Committee meeting· Expedite reports on all elements of Joint Commission's Environment of Care.· Perform environmental safety tours of the facility per The Joint Commission standards.· Identify potential safety problems, suggest corrective action, and monitor compliance.· In the event of a significant safety hazard, the Facility Safety Officer will take immediate action to eliminate the hazard.· Conduct an annual review and evaluation of the management plans.· Responsible for safety training programs for P/SL and RMHC employees.· Present the safety program at new employee orientation.· Collaborate with Education Department to revise the safety-related components of the annual education.· Conduct, document and evaluate monthly fire drills.· Provide special annual training on OSHA required programs.· Assist in the management of the hazard communication program.· Responsible for policies that provide structure to the Safety Department.· Responsible for compliance with the NFPA Life Safety Code and Authority of Jurisdiction (AOJ).· Ensure compliance with the safety standards of all other applicable regulatory agencies.· Oversee the safety programs at the satellite facilities including periodic fire and disaster drills.· Responsible for evaluating the impact which construction activities may have on the safety of employees, patients, visitors and other building occupants.· Issue and monitor contractor and construction compliance with ILSM and all other relevant permits and policies.· Manage available resources to ensure an efficient and cost effective safety program.· Assist with the purchasing details personal protective equipment and other safety equipment.· Partner with facility leadership to promote safety programs.Emergency Management:· Plans, directs, and administers the Emergency Management Program including plans, procedures, and drills.· Acts as a liaison with other municipalities, county, state, federal, and other emergency management organizations.· Assist with the purchasing details for equipment used for emergency management.· Chair the Emergency Management Committee and facilitate emergency management drills.· Functions as the facility Active Shooter Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program Manager; responsible for organizing, managing, and sustaining ASHER prevention, preparedness, mitigation and recovery.Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center expects our Code of Conduct Value Statements to be reflected in the way every employee interacts with co-workers, patients and family members, and with others in the community.· We recognize and affirm the unique and intrinsic worth of each individual· We treat all those we serve with compassion and kindness· We act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.· We trust our colleagues as valuable members of our healthcare team and pledge to treat one another with loyalty, respect and dignityWhat qualifications you will need:

Hospital safety professional certification preferred

Bachelor’s degree or 5 years equivalent work experience required, Masters preferred

Three to five years’ experience in safety, emergency preparedness required

Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal, state and local codes and regulations related to safety and emergency preparedness.

Requires strong verbal and written communication skills when dealing with a variety of internal and external people.

Excellent analytical and research skills for investigating and reporting.

Knowledge of FEMA National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and Incident Command System training (ICS).
