Electrical Assistant Project Engineer

This is an entry level position that supports the Project Managers in the management of projects, which includes directing field personnel, working with general contractors and other subcontractors, as well as anticipating future requirements for the project. It also includes reading and interpreting construction prints and specification forms, analyzing material and labor costs, and interacting with internal/external customers, suppliers, and subcontractors daily. The Assistant Project Engineer will assist with the facilitation and successful completion of assigned projects across all sectors of electrical construction, including lighting and lighting control systems.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist/Support the Project Managers as needed.
Work closely with project management team on multiple projects to ensure successful completion of scope.
Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation.
Carry out administrative duties such as assisting with project submittals, RFI’s (request for information), submittals, change orders, quote requests, project documentation, project folder maintenance, tracking project issues, permits and PG&E applications, etc.
Support team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication.
Exhibit polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, video conference, and mail.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the construction community so the needs of the company and its clients can be met.
Keep abreast of current changes and trends in construction codes.
Ensure that material procurement is efficient, reliable and trackable.
Ensure schedule requirements are met for all projects. Readily adjust priorities and milestones based upon changing customer needs, resource availability, and job requirements.
Conduct site walks for quality assurance, scope of work changes and project reviews.
Manage all closeout procedures including: documentation, filing, record drawings, construction cost database input, follow-up marketing and team debriefing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Solid interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills
Demonstrate attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to Multitask in an often fast-paced environment
Effective written and oral communication sufficient to be able to elicit and communicate information
Knowledge of general building codes and National Electrical Code
Knowledge of Mechanical and Plumbing trades preferred
Knowledge of wiring systems and how to perform all phases of project installation
Assist in the management of project development from initiation to closure
Help coordinate daily client interaction and project requirements
Proficiency in reading and interpreting building plans and specifications
Have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and contractors
Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and project scope
Resolve issues that may arise throughout project cycle and beyond completion
Clearly communicate expectations to field team
Comply with and enforce standard policies and procedures
Ensure contractual work is performed per customer standards
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in the electrical industry
Familiarity with union shops
Familiarity with lighting control systems such as Lutron and Vantage
Experience working with AutoCAD
Experience working with Bluebeam
Familiarity with lighting fixtures
Electrical estimating
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
Annual Pay: …………………………………$72,800 to $83,200 (depending on experience)
(Hourly: $35 - $40 per hour) Payroll is processed on a weekly basis.
