Construction Finish Carpenter - Residential - Joinery Structures

Who we are:

Joinery Structures is a design-driven general contracting and custom woodworking firm, based out of a 9000 sq ft fully-outfitted shop in West Oakland. We are composed of a talented team of project managers, highly skilled carpenters, mill operators, designers, furniture makers, and state-of-the-art milling equipment. The JS team pursues work on multiple fronts, including residential, remodels, ground-up construction, finish carpentry, and landscape structures, as well as continuing to offer our general solid wood milling services. We have decade-long relationships with our subcontractors and suppliers, tailored to each client's budget.

We are looking for a highly organized, hands-on construction professional with a vast knowledge of the trades that leads by example and takes enormous pride in a job well done, takes the initiative, and has a 'can do' attitude along with the willingness to go the extra mile.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Interior and Exterior finish carpentry including the following:

- Interior door hanging

- Window flashing and installation

- Exterior door installation - hinged, sliding, and bi-fold door

- Interior and exterior window and door trim

- Deck board installation

- Siding installation

- Cabinet Installation

-Work cooperatively with Site Superintendents and apprentices.

-Skilled with the following tools: Circular saw, drill+impact, Jig saw, router, finish and rough nailers, saws-all, and multimaster.

-Must own tool belt, drill + driver, circular saw and basic hand tools.

-Generate supplies, materials lists

-Maintain a clean and safe jobsite during construction, including site conditions and streets; ensure that neighborhood streets and yards are clean, and that trash is cleaned up; make sure that winter site requirements are being adhered to.

-Establish and enforce safety measures; Be intolerant of unsafe work practices and take appropriate but firm action to promptly remedy safety violations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAITS & SKILLS:

-at least 2 years experience in the carpenter role

-High School diploma or equivalent.

-Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation, preferably a truck or a van

- A background in carpentry is required.

-Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

-Detail-oriented, and a highly resourceful problem-solver

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ; WORK ENVIRONMENT:

-Physical strength and stamina, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.

-Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, ability to handle, feel, lift, operate, and move objects, tools, or controls.

-Ability to work in a construction environment.

-Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, dig, go up and down stairs and ladders, crouch, and crawl, and lying down.
