ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD STAFF DUTIES
Coordinate and conduct soil and groundwater sampling, soil boring and well installation.
Coordinate and conduct soil gas and indoor air sampling.
Conduct maintenance and collect operational data from soil vapor extraction remediation systems.
Coordinate with contractors for excavation, feasibility testing and remediation system installation.
Support senior staff with miscellaneous assessment and remediation tasks
Assist with work plan preparation and field work permitting
Conduct subsurface investigations and related soil and groundwater sampling
Oversee installation of groundwater monitoring and remediation wells
Interpret soil lithology and hydrogeology and prepare soil boring logs
Prepare geologic cross section maps and contaminant concentration maps
Manage and evaluate data, and prepare investigation reports
Tabulate groundwater monitoring data and prepare reports
Help coordinate groundwater monitoring program
Data entry and graphing (Excel) and report compilation/formatting (MS Word)
Compile documents/summarize work to assist with reimbursement from the Cleanup Fund
Compilation and submittal of electronic reports to regulatory agencies (.PDF format)
Report copying and distribution
Environmental research
Waste disposal coordination
Assist with project management, office management and other tasks
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
Minimum of one year of professional experience, in environmental or related field. Familiarity with field work preferred.
Valid California driver’s license, insurable driving record, and own vehicle (for select projects)
Ability to wear respirator and work in typical weather in California;
Working knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System preferred
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
Prior office or environmental experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills
OFFICE INFORMATION
The business core hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
Berkeley office is near the North Berkeley BART station in the Strawberry Creek Design Center.
