Job title: Latinx Community Specialist
Classification: Part-time, Temporary Position: November 2024 - December 31, 2025
Benefits: Benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, 401k, holiday and sick pay.
Compensation: $26 per hour, 22 hours per week
Location: Principally based at Creativity Explored, 3245 16th Street and 1 Arkansas St in San Francisco, with regular visits to community locations in San Francisco and San Mateo counties
Reports to: Associate Director, Social Services

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Creativity Explored is a San Francisco nonprofit that partners with people with developmental disabilities to create an artistic, studio-based collective where the creative capacity of any person can flourish. We do this by placing the work, needs, culture, and experience of artists with developmental disabilities at the center of the community in a way that honors humanity, respects self-agency, and nurtures creative potential.

POSITION OVERVIEW
CE’s Latinx Community Specialist will enhance and improve services to current Latinx artists and expand our population of Latinx artists, reducing service disparities experienced by the Latinx community. This bilingual staff member will carry out a specific set of grant-funded activities designed to engage adults with disabilities and their families and caregivers. They will improve services for current Latinx artists at CE by providing hands-on, culturally appropriate art instruction and expanding services and supports. They will also perform outreach to prospective artists with developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers, and develop processes and materials related to service engagement. This project will take place through December 31, 2025; continued employment with CE after the project ends is a possibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct outreach centering Latinx community spaces and neurodivergent spaces to identify and reach eligible Latinx adults not enrolled or under enrolled in day programs, and increase service uptake.
- Host individual and group listening sessions with Creativity Explored’s Latinx program participants to better understand their experiences, assess their knowledge of existing services and identify service gaps.
- Develop and offer culturally-appropriate artmaking activities to program participants and staff training to permanently improve our program offerings.
- Survey participants at the end of the program to assess any changes in service uptake and knowledge of available services.
- Coordinate the production of a printed and digital bilingual guide of in-person family and caregiver engagement activities to help participants access a greater share of services offered by GGRC.
- Provide interpretation as needed at Artist Advisory Committee meetings, community events, and conversations with monolingual Spanish-speaking program participants.
- Support other program staff in strengthening direct service and outreach with reaching similar enrollment and service uptick goals.
Organizational Relationships
The Latinx Community Specialist works collaboratively with our Latinx Youth Teaching Artist, Social Services Team, and Program Team. They will also work collaboratively with colleagues from our development team to track data for, and report on, the grant associated with the position, and with our exhibitions team to support sales and exhibitions for Latinx artists.
The Latinx Community Specialist is expected to work productively in a team environment to support the organization’s mission and goals and strengthen team members’ ability to support the Latinx community. They are also expected to work towards embodying the four components of CE's Staff Philosophy: Community, Creativity, Collaboration, and Compassion.
Compliance with Policies and Procedures
The Latinx Specialist will comply with established Creativity Explored policies and practices.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- BA in related field or equivalent experience
- Bilingual, Spanish - written and verbal proficiency
- A strong connection with CE’s mission, including the ability to advocate for CE artists’ self-identified needs
- At least one year’s experience providing bilingual direct services in a nonprofit education and/or arts setting
- At least one year of teaching experience in an arts setting
- At least one year of community outreach experience
- Experience developing and producing spanish-language outreach materials a plus
- Interpretation and/or translation experience in a nonprofit or education setting a plus
- Experience collecting and analyzing data a plus
- Team orientation, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated experience coordinating a project involving coordination between multiple internal and external entities
- Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed, entrepreneurial approach
- Strong data and project management skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to conduct outreach efforts across San Francisco and San Mateo counties
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Complete and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (initial certification to be completed within 30 days of date of hire)
- Workplace Harassment Training
- Complete Creativity Explored staff training pertinent to position job responsibilities as assigned
OTHER INFORMATION
The Latinx Community Specialist is an nonexempt, part time, temporary position. Most work takes place during M-F business hours but may vary due to organizational needs with a hybrid schedule in place with this position requiring 60% of their time on site at one of our studios or at work in a related community setting.
