Cornerstone is the East Bay's most exciting live music venue located in the heart of downtown Berkeley. We offer a full-service restaurant, two large bars, a beer garden with 50 craft beers, multiple event spaces and a 500-person live music venue.

We are seeking enthusiastic people to join our team. We are hiring for multiple positions:

BARTENDER

Provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds the guest’s expectation. Provide food and beverage service and hospitality that meets Cornerstone’s standards and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

A passion for hospitality and desire to take care of guests

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment yet can pay attention to the details

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following standard recipes

Interact with customers, take orders, and provide recommendations

Maintain a clean and organized bar at all times

Validate customer’s identification to ensure they meet the legal drinking age

Handle cash transactions and operate the POS

Upsell and suggestive selling when appropriate

Create fun and creative featured cocktails

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Two years full-service bartending experience

Experience with POS systems

Current RBS and Food Handlers card or the ability to obtain within thirty days of hiring

Proficient beer knowledge

SERVER

Position Summary:

Provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds the guest’s expectation. Provide food and beverage service and hospitality that meets Cornerstone’s standards and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

A warm and outgoing personality with a passion for food, beverages and customer service

Punctual, patient and mindful of relationships with colleagues and guests

Good understanding of cocktails, beer and wine

Excellent people skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

Good team player

Provide warm, professional and knowledgeable service

The ability to multitask and work well in a high-volume work environment

Validate customer’s identification to ensure they meet the legal drinking age

Handle cash transactions and operate the POS

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

One year serving experience

Experience with POS systems

Current RBS and Food Handlers card or the ability to obtain within thirty days of hiring

BARBACK

Responsibilities:

Keep the bar stocked with everything from liquor and mixers to fruit garnishes and ice. Change out kegs and ensure draft systems are running smoothly.

Clean and maintain the bar area, including wiping down counters, tables, and chairs.

Assist bartenders during peak hours by bussing dirty glasses and maintaining a tidy workspace.

Contribute to a positive and energetic work environment.

Qualifications:

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks. Available to work weekends and evenings - nights are our prime time!

SERVER ASSISTANT

Position Summary:

Provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds the guest’s expectation. Provide food and beverage service and hospitality that meets Cornerstone’s standards and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

Serve food and beverages to guests quickly and accurately

Clean and prepare the dining areas

Greet and make all guests feel welcome

Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion

Perform other restaurant duties as assigned

Clear dirty dishes after guests have finished their meals

Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to ensure a seamless dining experience

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Follow all safety and sanitation protocols

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience with POS systems

Current RBS and Food Handlers card or the ability to obtain within thirty days of hiring

EVENT STAFF / SECURITY

Position Summary:

Provide a concert experience that meets or exceeds the guest’s expectations in a safe, efficient and courteous manner.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist with guest check in, registration and crowd control

Direct attendees to different areas throughout the venue

Answer questions and provide exceptional customer service

Ensure a safe event for all guests

Escort guests out as needed

Set up and break down the event spaces (may vary by event)

Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Current RBS card or the ability to obtain within thirty days of hiring

Current guard card a plus
