Short Stories Hotel opened February 2022. Located in the heart of the Fairfax district, across from the Original Farmer’s Market and The Grove, Short Stories is a tranquil retreat in an urban core. At our hotel, we’re passionate about providing an inviting and personalized approach to hospitality, and we’re excited to carry that same spirit over into our beautiful restaurant, bar, and courtyard.

Job Description - Bartender

Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary:

Please Note: This position will also cover serving shifts as needed

We are looking for an enthusiastic Bartender to provide an excellent experience for the customers of our new bar and restaurant located in the heart of Fairfax. With a passion for wine and cocktails, you’ll make recommendations, educate on our wine selection, and create classic and innovative drinks that exceed customers’ needs and expectations. You will be an integral part of the collective Short Stories experience where warmth, effortless hospitality, and familiarity with all food and beverage products are necessary to guide hotel and local diners through their experience with us at the bar and restaurant. You will be expected to gain full knowledge of food and beverage products in house and maintain cleanliness, manage and anticipate guest needs, and be part of a dynamic team that is collectively responsible for a complete and authentic customer experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons

Interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks

Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations

Educate customers on wine

Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails

Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age

Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies

Stay guest-focused and nurture an excellent guest experience

Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude

Comply with all food and beverage regulations

Assist with additional responsibilities as needed

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Proven working experience as a Bartender

Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks

Knowledge of wines and spirits

Proven experience in creating high-quality, creative craft cocktails

Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

Relevant training certificate

Capability to learn quickly and memorize menu details

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Willing to work flexible work schedules that include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Ability to bend, stand, and stoop for long periods of time

Ability to lift 50 lbs
