Full-time

The Roguelike Tavern is hiring a Line Cook for 25-35 hours a week in Burbank, CA!

We are a small, tight-knit team in a small kitchen, putting out casual bar fare with rotating specials. We are looking for someone who honestly enjoys working in the kitchen and cares about what they do, who understands that consistency and dependability are key. This business is a labor of love for us all, and we want to give our customers the best experience possible. We host many types of events each week, from Karaoke and Live Jazz, to Dungeons & Dragons nights, and Drag Bingo!

Our menu is on our website, so check it out before applying: the majority is flat-top and fryer heavy, so you must be experienced and comfortable with both. All of our items are quick pickups, so speed, quality and cleanliness during service are a must.

Our kitchen staff is only 2-3 people, so we are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule of 25-35 hours once training is completed. Typical shifts are either 4pm-10pm, or 7pm-1am. Must be comfortable with opening/closing the kitchen alone after fully trained.

We all prep and work the line together, clean together, do dishes together, etc. You will be cross trained to do everything in this position outside of managerial duties. Time management and good work ethic is key.

Read through all the requirements below, and if EVERYTHING fits, email us a copy of your resume, with what hours you can consistently work. If you do not send your schedule availability or resume, you will not get a response. Pay is always every two weeks @ $20/hr.

Minimum Requirements:

- 2+ years working as a line cook, with flat-top and fryer experience

- Good knife skills, organization skills, and attention to detail.

- Familiarity with proper kitchen practices, i.e. rotating product, cleaning, properly storing and labeling product, etc.

- Cleanliness is KEY. We are a small kitchen so keeping everything proper is very important. There is no extra space for mess or clutter.

- Knowledge of proper equipment usage, i.e. turning equipment on and off safely, maintaining temperatures, and keeping equipment clean and maintained.

- MUST be able to commit to a consistent schedule once trained.

- Valid CA FoodHandlers Card or ServSafe Certificate.

- Good attitude and energy, we all truly enjoy what we do, so if you’re just here for an easy paycheck, this probably isn’t the place for you.

- Must be punctual, live locally, and have reliable transportation to and from the bar, especially if on an opening shift.
