Stealth Numbers Tutor as "bookkeeper" for smart autism-spectrum adult
California, Los angeles, 90001 Los angeles USA(This is not a "job". It is basically a tutoring or assistant "gig", for occasional meetings.)
Hi. I hesitate to say "math", because this is not for math-tutoring for school. So I am talking arithmetic.
Healthy young man, 30, starved in foreign orphanage, Special-ed background, high-functioning, smart, but poor education. Very active, self-employed hard worker, self-starter. Poor arithmetic, which I think is a cause of his budgetary struggles.
I am looking for someone to help him, beginning by stealth, to improve such skills as:
- Budgeting etc. (personal and business)
- Social Skills
- Responsibility
- Goal-Setting
Can a person's level of arithmetic proficiency affect nearly every aspect of their life? I think so. He has not asked for numbers tutoring. To get you in there to help, there needs to be a reason, so you would be introduced as someone to help him and/or me with "bookkeeping".
He is very willing to accept help from a tutor or "assistant". You will by degrees find ways to help him build awareness and self-sufficiency with numbers, budgets, money.
- You should be very computer-literate. You may be able to help him use spreadsheets to organize his budgets, or maybe help find just the right smartphone app(s).
- Great if you have used some bookkeeping software. I think he was previously using Waveapps.com for simple invoicing, so maybe go back to that.
- Best if you have tutored math or budgeting before, but not required.
- Would be great if you have tutored students with learning differences, but not required.
- If you are particularly empathic, or have been a life coach, or have participated in some sort of life-changing practice or large-group awareness-training, could help. Not required.
- The whole idea is not so much to be his bookkeeper, but to help him build awareness of the power of numbers, and transfer some of your arithmetic skills to him.
- The goal is: Make A Difference !
Please send a resume, or a few sentences about your applicable experience, skills, and knowledge. Thank you.
Schedule:
- At least initially, this cannot be scheduled like "4 hours each Monday and Thursday at 3pm."
- We would have to start slow and arrange a time for a first meeting, etc.
- When the first few meetings have gone well, it may be possible to find repeatable time-slots.
- Number of hours per week is therefore unpredictable right now.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
