Classroom Teaching Assistant
California, Humboldt county, 95511 Humboldt county USARedwood Coast Montessori is looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, and positive classroom assistant for the 2024-2025 school year. The role of the assistant is to work with the classroom teacher to supervise and care for students, provide age appropriate activities, and assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
Job Type: Part-time (30 hours/week)
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Grade levels: Elementary school
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:00
Essential Functions:
Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
Help to maintain a neat, well-organized and attractive learning environment aligned with common Montessori practices.
Maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous student interactions.
Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the school.
Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
Treat all children with dignity and respect.
Maintain confidentiality about children, families, and other employees outside the school.
Supervise outside playground and lunch activities as assigned.
Respond courteously and knowledgeably to the needs of students and parents.
Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate others.
Be in attendance at school on all professional days and participate in professional activities designated by the Director, which may include workshops, curriculum development, retreats, meetings, grade reporting, planning and other professional pursuits.
Attend all assigned staff meetings and professional sessions, including: Staff meetings, SST, RTI, IEP, BSP meetings, Committee meetings, Evening parent meetings, Workshops/conference
Minimum Qualifications:
Reliable transportation to and from the work site
Demonstrates general knowledge of child development and growth
Demonstrates commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a working environment that is supportive and individuals from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrates effective writing and verbal communication skills including ability to participate in group discussions and problem solving
Requirements upon being hired:
Fingerprinted and DOJ clearance
Negative TB test
Must attend and pass infant child First Aid/CPR
