Assistant farmer/ handyperson

Tipi Produce (near Evansville WI) seeks equipment operator/ handyperson/ driver to help manage 20 acres of certified organic vegetables.

Tasks range from field operations to building maintenance to local produce deliveries. You will encounter a broad range of interesting machinery, crops, jobs, and responsibilities. This is challenging, satisfying work. A willingness to learn is essential.

Requirements:

- FT candidates must be experienced in operating farm machinery.

- In addition, these skills are valued but not required: machinery maintenance & repair, or carpentry, or delivery experience.

- Candidate must be physically fit.

- This employee will deliver produce orders in our trucks. An insurable driving record is required.

Schedule and compensation:

- The FT position is 40 hours/week during the growing season, but we will consider PT candidates who are available 20+ hours per week. Work is generally Monday – Friday but tasks can be scheduled for evenings and weekends if that is when you are available.

- Our growing season runs April/May – November. This is a year-round position for the right person, with part-time work available December – March.

- Compensation: $18 – $25 per hour based on experience, plus commuting subsidy, abundant produce to take home, and a probable year-end bonus.

- We do not provide housing.
