NLH member employees and those with a service break less than one year are not eligible. Summary:Responsible for exercising independent judgment in evaluating, planning, directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician, with accountability if such treatment is not rendered correctly. Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The staff therapist exercises independent judgment in coordinating, assigning and supervising responsibilities delegated to supportive staff (RCNA, PTA, PTLA, etc.) The staff therapist participates in operational aspects of the department, and maintains performance improvement activities within the department. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs. As per the Maine Physical Therapy Practice Act, Title 32, Chapter 45-A, Section 3111-3, 3111-5 p 1.: “:Physical Therapist” means a person who practices physical therapy. “Physical Therapy” means the evaluation, treatment, and instruction of human beings to detect, assess, prevent, correct, alleviate and limit physical disability, bodily malfunction, and pain from injury, disease and any other bodily condition, the administration, interpretation, and evaluation of tests and measurements of bodily functions and structures for the purpose of treatment planning, the planning, administration, evaluation, and modification of treatment and instruction, and the use of physical agents and procedures, activities and devices for prevention and therapeutic purposes, and the provision of consultative, educational and other advisory service for the purpose of reducing the incidence and severity of physical disability, bodily malfunction and pain.
