Parking Meter Officer

The Parking Meter Officer issues citations for parking meter violations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. TASKS - Specific Duties for Meter Attendant: Issues citations for overtime parking at meters. Cooperates with police in towing vehicles to pound. Reports inoperative meters to repair person or repairs minor problems. Responds to questions/complaints by citizens or refers them to appropriate department. Appears in Municipal Court to defend citations. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER - Knowledge of law enforcement records and terminology. Knowledge of confidentiality requirements. Knowledge of basic arithmetic and bookkeeping techniques. Skill in handling confidential police records, correspondence, and communication. Skill in maintaining basic accounting records and report preparation. Skill in customer service and handling confrontation. Skill in independent judgement and decision making.
