Below, you'll find other important information about this position.The Surgery/Bariatrics Clinical Dietitian works with the medical team to provide optimal medical nutrition therapy to patients in the Bariatric clinic and upon post-surgery follow-up in the hospital. Works with members of the department to improve quality care to patients. Coordinates care with inpatient dietitians.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Registration with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.

2. Licensure through the West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians required at hire.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Certification in clinical specialty area.

2. Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

EXPERIENCE:

1. 5 years or more experience in clinical or community nutrition.

2. 1 year of leadership/management experience.

Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert in Weight management responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement.Coordinates, promotes, and provides outpatient nutrition services to the weight management population and provides group and individual nutrition counseling to individuals pursuing weight loss.

Assesses the nutrition needs of weight management patients by completing a nutrition assessment, identifying nutrition risk, include diet education and an individualized nutrition care plan within the EMR.

Complete and document calorie counts/dietary recall/assessments and follow-ups accurately according to standards of care; including but not limited to: appropriateness of diet to diagnosis, adequacy of current diet, assessment of laboratory values, drug-nutrient interactions, medical history, current nutritional needs, nutrition education needs, care plan development and writing orders in the electronic medical record when nutrition intervention is needed for a patient.Document summary of and communicate results to medical staff and patient.(if applicable)
