CONTRACT RATE

In addition to the starting Contract Rate of $24.53, Chelan PUD employees who work a seasonal position scheduled for six or more consecutive months also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), holidays and personal leave accrual. Chelan PUD employees who work a seasonal position scheduled for less than six (6) consecutive months will receive an additional $.50 per hour in lieu of employee benefits. Additionally, and in accordance with the Washington State Paid Sick Leave Law, such employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours actually worked.

JOB DURATION

Seasonal park positions are open now and may continue to become available during the 2025 season. Position durations vary with openings beginning as early as March to as late as June and ending between September and November. Position durations are based on business needs and subject to change.

Work locations vary and include Chelan/Beebe Bridge Park, Wenatchee Walla Walla Point Park and Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park.

Park employees work five consecutive days, 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. Employees have two consecutive days off per week - for example, Monday and Tuesday; subject to change based on operational needs. Work hours vary and may be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. based on operational needs and subject to change. There is possible overtime on weekends and holidays to accommodate "park closing activities".

Overview

Perform park landscape and maintenance duties, using hand or power tools or equipment or cleaning/sanitizing supplies. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, sod laying, trimming, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation and maintenance, litter and rubbish removal, cleaning and sanitizing restroom and picnic shelter facilities, turf and planting bed maintenance, curb, sidewalk, trail maintenance, operating automotive and grounds maintenance equipment such as ball field grooming equipment, large riding mowers, front end loaders, tillers, power rakes, and small snow removal equipment. Assist in meeting the needs of the general public and special event organizers as directed by the Park Foreman, and Park Management Staff. Accountable for assisting others in maintaining District owned and operated parks.

Responsibilities

- Landscape Maintenance: Debris hauling, leaf removal, planting/barking, sod, shrub care, weeding, tilling, trail and road edging, turf aerating, turf mowing, turf sweeping, turf maintenance, turf thatching, and weed eating.

- Custodial Maintenance: Garbage pickup, litter pickup, rubbish removal, restroom and shelter cleaning and sanitizing.

- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: perform weekly maintenance on equipment such as sharpening blades, greasing, and maintaining fluid levels. Operate large riding mowers, front-end loaders, tillers, power rakes, small snow removal equipment, mowing equipment, pruning equipment, athletic field equipment, pressure washers, etc.

- Recreation Area Maintenance: Baseball, basketball, horseshoe pits, soccer, play equipment, tennis, and volleyball. Grooming, raking, sweeping, trimming, line painting, layout, and managing ball field dust using a fire hose to wet the fields.

- Facility Care and Maintenance: painting, vandalism repair, assist Foreman or PM2 in carpentry and light bulb and or low voltage valve replacements as needed.

- Hard Surface Maintenance: Parking lots, drains, sidewalks, curbs, trail sweeping and edging.

- Marine Maintenance: Boat launch, docks and swim area debris removal and other routine maintenance as required.

- Sign Maintenance: General removal and replacement, graffiti removal, cleaning.

- Utilities Maintenance: irrigation, sprinklers, and swing joint repair and replacement. Lighting: bulb replacement, fixture cleaning.

- Administrative: Counter reading, safety/training, and special events. Campground registration duties, (handling money) Communicate with other staff as needed.

- Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Experience

- 1 year experience with landscape and facility maintenance preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

- A valid driver's license Upon Hire required and

- A valid Washington State driver's license within 30 Days required
