The role of Direct Support Professional is the backbone of our company. Direct Support Professional's answer directly to the Director of Operations and the Director of Health and Safety. Our DSP's have an array of responsibilities. We set the example for people. You must look your best and be prideful of representing the person in the community, meetings, and appointments.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining the health and safety of people is a priority. Following policies around medications and prompt and precise documentation is very important.
We pride ourselves in introducing people to a large variety of community based activities. We encourage memberships in clubs of interest. Again, documentation of these community activities is important in our reporting.
Provide healthy meals and snacks. We involve the people we support in the planning and preparation of meals.
We assist people with looking and feeling their best. From daily bathing and grooming activities to getting exercise. We encourage stylish clothing based on trends, age, and preferences.
We help people maintain a clean and organized home. Cleaning occurs throughout the three shifts. We involve people in all aspects of their home maintenance tasks that they are interested in engaging in.
We assist people with their banking needs.
We schedule and attend all medical, dental, vision, and specialty medical appointments. We obtain documentation from providers for and changes to prescriptions, therapies, or counseling needs. All medical information is documented and maintained.
Responsibilities:
Great oral and communication skills.
18+ years of age.
Valid driver's license and insurance.
Must be able to pass a federal background check and fingerprints.
Must have NAR, NAC, or HHA or ability to obtain and renew annually to prior to renewal.
Attend 70 hour training. You may submit certificate of completion to reduce training to 40 hours.
