Bryson Sales and Service of Washington is a family owned and operated full-line Blue Bird and Micro Bird bus dealership located in Washington State. Bryson’s, established in 2009, is seeking a highly motivated person to join our team as a Primary Road Tech based out of our Everett, WA shop.
The successful candidate will be a proficient mechanic for medium/heavy duty vehicles who can install local dealer options, repair, and maintain vehicles. We offer competitive wages. JOB SUMMARY:
Perform pre-delivery service on new buses, accurately inspect, diagnose, and repair buses brought to us for maintenance and repair, and maintain Bryson’s own vehicle fleet. This position primarily involves on-the-road responsibilities, visiting schools and other facilities to address repair and maintenance needs. When no fieldwork is scheduled, you will be required to work out of our home office located in Everett, WA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect school bus prior to delivery, making needed repairs and adjustments for the purpose of ensuring bus is in safe working condition and in compliance with state requirements.
Install electric equipment (e.g., video cameras, 2-way radios, etc.) ensuring proper operation of systems.
Repair and replace seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components and
assemblies.
Change oil and filters, install anti-freeze and snow chains, repair tires, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearings and other assemblies as required.
Inspect and recognize if factory and dealer equipment is not functioning correctly.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and engine problems in buses.
Use basic hand tools, and a variety of mechanical aids in the repair, adjustment, and maintenance of school buses, e.g., battery chargers, compression gauges, torque wrenches, drills, air wrenches, and other tools.
Test bus after being repaired to ensure that malfunctions have been corrected and that the bus is operating safely and efficiently.
Clean bus for the purpose of maintaining safe and sanitary conditions and/or ensuring equipment is in proper working order.
Complete work orders accurately, maintaining records of time worked and materials used.
Perform preventive maintenance (e.g., bearings, ignitions, carburetors, transmissions,
differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators, front/rear suspension systems, etc.) and regular bus safety inspections.
Maintain a high level of safety standards at all times while performing the responsibilities of the position.
Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; maintain equipment and tools in a safe and proper working condition; notify appropriate personnel of unsafe working conditions.
Attend appropriate workshops and training programs as assigned by the service manager.
Perform other assigned duties on an occasional basis that are in the best interest of the company and/or employee.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and ability to operate a variety of equipment utilized in repair and maintenance.
Ability to analyze problems.
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, and to read and interpret schematics and diagrams.
Ability to interpret and apply a commonsense understanding to a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, using independent judgment and demonstrating initiative to act without being asked, as well as working collaboratively with team members.
Ability to interact professionally across all departments within the company as well as
with customers, vendors, and the public.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
High school diploma/equivalent, specialized training in auto mechanics a plus.
Minimum of two years related experience, experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Possess a set of basic automotive mechanic hand tools and storage cabinet.
Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License, preferably with a CDL endorsement.
Must be 21 years of age or older for insurance purposes.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
