We are MarninSaylor (www.marninsaylor.com), a small toy / merch / art company working out of our SODO studio and selling our creations online and out of our Pike Place Market flagship store. We are looking for a part-time retail employee to work in our shop three or four days a week. This employee will complete a variety of normal retail tasks including assisting customers, ringing up purchases, tidying, and stocking. But more importantly - this employee will function as an ambassador for our brand and all that it stands for. We are looking for an honest, upbeat, friendly employee who will make customers feel welcomed and appreciated as they are introduced to our world of cuteness. The most important qualities we’re looking for in an applicant are friendliness, honesty, and reliability.

Friendliness: Our brand is built on fun and positivity, and our store and the people who work in it should reflect that energy. We are looking for someone who can always greet customers with a smile, and is comfortable and approachable when interacting with many different types of people from around the world.

Honesty: Employees in our shop work alone. This means that we must be able to trust them with cash handling, accurate reporting of their hours, etc. We treat our employees with trust and respect, and look for folks who will bring that same level of respect to the workplace.

Reliability: We’re a very small business and each person plays a crucial role. We need someone who can be counted on to be on time and present for each and every shift, and who will be communicative of any issues preventing them from opening the shop on time or completing their regular hours.

What You’ll Do

Maintain a friendly, welcoming store atmosphere

Interact with customers and teach them what makes our brand and products special

Help customers with item- and purchase-related questions when needed (what size shirt to buy, finding a particular item, etc.)

Manage large customer crowds and multitask between customer needs

Complete customer purchases and provide a fun and memorable shopping experience

General tidying, stocking, and cleaning of the store

Honest and accurate cash handling

Item inventory

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time position. We are looking for someone able to work three or four days, Tuesday through Friday, at our shop located in Pike Place Market. Shop hours are 10:00 to 5:00. Employee hours are 9:45 to 5:15, with one hour of paid break time per day. Pay will be $22.00 per hour to start, with future raises dependent on sales numbers, attitude, and customer feedback.
