Who We Are

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska supports seriously ill children and their families by providing housing, meals, and other essential support services at our facilities in Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK. Each night we house 139 families, offering the comforts of home near the medical care their children need. Enabling families to stay close to their hospitalized child supports the health and well-being of the child and saves families millions of dollars in hotel and food costs each year. At the House, each of these families finds comfort, support, and hope as they navigate their child’s medical crisis. RMHC of Western Washington & Alaska is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

JOB SUMMARY

Rooted in hospitality and customer service principles, our Environmental Services Team works collaboratively to ensure a clean and sanitary home for our guest families. This is a part-time non/exempt position working Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, 8 hours per day, and reports directly to the Environmental Services Supervisor.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning shared areas in the house.

Deep cleaning and preparing guest units between stays.

Removing trash, recycling, and compost from the building.

Clean outside building perimeter, garden areas, and smoking areas.

Laundering house linens.

Transport dirty and clean linens from the main building to other buildings.

Cleaning and vacuuming floors, using floor and carpet machines as necessary.

Stocking chemical supply closets.

Moving and organizing supplies and donations.

Confident leading cleaning and maintenance volunteers and service groups if needed.

Assisting with furniture moves and deep cleaning projects.

Collaborate with work groups to ensure facilities projects are completed and well-coordinated.

Refill chemical bottles and distribute cleaning supplies to the cleaning supply areas.

Clean and pick up trash outside and around buildings including garden areas.

Clean parking garage and parking garage stairways.

Clean floors with floor machine, clean carpet with carpet extractor.

Clean windows and walls.

Cleaning kitchen stoves and hoods.

Stewardship and cultivation of stakeholders (donors, board members, and volunteers).

Other assignments by supervisor.

Our Anchorage House in Alaska has 34 rooms and is nestled on the 6th floor of the Alaska Native Medical Center’s patient housing. Patients include expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies as well as pediatric patients and their families.
