Organization: Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle

Position: Accounts Receivable Specialist, Part-time with Benefits, Hybrid

Location: Belltown Seattle office and remote in the Seattle area.

Hours: 20 - 25 hours per week

The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle is looking for an Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist. As an AR Specialist, you will be responsible for recording donations and gifts, preparing the daily cash log, and maintaining accurate financial records.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various departments across the Federation, supporting our mission through effective financial management. In this crucial role within the Finance department, you will gain comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices and theory.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate is planning to take, or has already completed courses in accounting, and is professional and personable with a desire to learn. The AR Specialist will be responsible for efficiently processing all cash receipts received by the organization in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and our best practices.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

- Process and records incoming payments into donor database and general ledger software

- Generates donor statements, program invoices and payment acknowledgments letters

- Prepares daily bank deposits

- Assists with reconciling month-end receivables and revenue accounts

- Responsible for researching discrepancies and investigating transaction level detail for donor activity

- Communicates with donors about account inquiries and unpaid balances

- Responsible for recording reclassifications for unapplied payments, gifts and pledges

- Prepares check requests for pass through donations

- Maintains electronic documentation of all cash receipts (Checks, ACH, stock donations)

REQUIREMENTS

What You Need:

- 1+ years of experience in accounting a plus

- Able to work independently and use sound judgment in making decisions

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

- Ability to communicate effectively with kindness and respect

- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and donors

- Proficiency in Word, Excel and experience with Google products and database knowledge

Compensation:

- Pay range for this role is: $25 - $28 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with education level, relevant experience, and skill set.

- Eligible health and welfare benefits include: medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, 401(k) and 403(b).

- Eligible paid time off for vacation, sick and holidays as follows: 3 weeks of pro-rated vacation based on hours worked, 5 sick days, 9 national holidays, and 7 to 9 Jewish holidays per year.
