Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation team (CO+I) is the team behind the Microsoft’s Cloud infrastructure and responsible for innovating, planning, designing, building and operating one of the largest datacenter fleets in the world. We support product teams by providing the secure and compliant, cost efficient and highly available global infrastructure that Microsoft’s customers depend on. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency and a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.To keep up with rapidly changing customer and business demands, CO+I is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager – Strategic Engagements who can lead complex engagements across key datacenter suppliers, collaborating across business and engineering stakeholders to drive strategic partnership development.The individual selected will be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, with an attention to detail. This individual should have the ability to work in an ever-changing environment with a desire to help shape the overall business while acting in the spirit of “One Microsoft” in order to drive 360-partnership engagements. You will lead multiple large-scale engagements to improve mutual partnerships with suppliers, balancing technical leadership and business judgement.In this role, you’ll apply an analytical mindset and take a leadership role in driving strategies and workstreams to deliver outcomes for Microsoft, our suppliers, and customers. You’ll balance multiple internal and external stakeholders, driving your vision into comprehensive plans and execution across teams. Work with team leaders on key programs and strategic initiatives to develop clarity on engagement scope and deliverables.

Establish a results-oriented, metrics-driven programmatic approach to deliver strategic initiatives.

Establish a scalable engagement framework that provides visibility and ensures success for CO+I’s active strategic engagement portfolio.

Refine methodology, tools and templates for continuous improvement.

Act as a subject matter expert, driving assessments in collaboration with other teams, conducting competitive analyses, and examining customer and technology-related industry trends, as well as industry-specific requirements/regulations and opportunities.

Define best practices for business cases that drive long-term, integrated, cross-business solutions and roadmaps that improve business performance and mitigate risk, while driving innovation and collaboration with key suppliers to enable growth and scale.

Determine and lead large scale process improvements to quickly scope insights.

Ensure alignment between the customer, the market, internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and the goals and strategy of Microsoft.

Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility and efficiencies and lower costs.

Partner with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize, and deliver on the multi-year roadmap for program tooling.

Lead the tracking, coordination, and communication of end-to-end project schedules and plans.

Establish and monitor processes, while driving accountability with stakeholders to follow the established schedule and processes.

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

OR equivalent experience.

3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

OR equivalent experience

8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

8+ years of supplier or customer-facing experience

Experience working within a business development organization

Proficiency in use of process improvement methodology (Lean, Six Simga, and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control))

Experience in working with both technical and business subject matter experts across multiple organizational levels

Ability to define customer-focused scenarios, author business cases and track value realization, and drive insights as well as identify opportunities to develop solutions

Experience in data analytics/modeling and datacenter infrastructure management

Creative problem-solving & analytical skills to drive insights and understand root causes combined with a “sense of urgency” to develop solutions

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
