Join the NASA Wallops Flight Facility team with your system administration skills to support NASA’s Advancing Collaborative Connections for Earth System Science (ACCESS) and NASA’s Direct to Earth (DTE) that connects scientists and mission controllers to critical spacecraft data. More than 20 tracking sites around the globe provide the communications link that allows more than 40 missions to transfer their data to Earth. Apply your knowledge of Linux/Unix, databases, cloud-based systems, networking and administration tools, to this critical NASA system supporting many NASA space missions.

The successful applicant will have :

Minimum requirements :

1. A bachelor’s level (4-year) degree from an accredited college/university in one of :

Computing/computer science/computer engineering/cybersecurity

Bachelor's level (4-year) accredited degrees in other engineering disciplines and/or physical sciences

will be considered with sufficient additional computer/network system administration experience.

2. System administration experience in both of Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.

3. US Citizenship required.

Must have ability to obtain and keep a (minimum) Public Trust clearance.

Additional credence will be given to candidates who already have Public Trust

or a higher level clearance.

4. Must live or be prepared to relocate to within one hour regular commuting distance of WFF.

No relocation assistance is available.

10% travel to other facilities elsewhere.

Preferred experience (in addition to above) :

1. Software development experience in one or more scientific/engineering

programming languages : C/C/Python/FORTRAN/PERL/IDL

2. Experience with one or more database systems : Oracle, Ingres/Postgres, SQL.

3. Experience with industry standard networking and system administration tools.

4. Experience with networking and cybersecurity. (Unix/Linux and/or Microsoft Windows environments.)

5. Experience with cloud based systems.

6. Experience working in the aerospace/spaceflight area and/or the NASA/US Government environment.
