Serves as a Network Technician within Network Operations. Incumbent is responsible for learning and providing assistance on all aspects of NEXCOM Enterprise HQ and district field site network related services including but not limited to WAN LAN VoIP WLAN and telecommunication technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities: Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens. • Responsible for all tasks involving every facet of the Network Operations team as it relates to WAN/LAN, VoIP, WLAN, and telecommunications technologies. • Responsible for the physical cable plant for both data and voice, including ordering, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support. • Provide assistance in matters regarding, but not limited to, day•to•day operations of: physical cable plant, copper or fiber, including the completion of Help Desk requests and associated installation requirements for network and telecommunications related services. • Responsible for all aspects of the procurement process, as necessary, for Network Operations team related to hardware, software, and other services, which includes but not limited to submittal of purchase request, receipt, payment process, and inventory management. • Liaison with other NEXCOM functional codes and headquarters management to determine cabling/connectivity requirements. • Maintains Asset Management system with updates required by new equipment purchases worldwide and removal of life•cycled equipment. Ensures purchase date, PO number and other key information including location is accurate. • Enters procurement requests with accurate accounting information for all requisitions within Network Operations. • Installs and replaces Network Operations equipment. • Maintains, supports, and troubleshoots configurations on hardware, software for Network Operations. • Assists in the preparation of the department expense budget and project budgets. Projects annual department expenses based on current commitments and expected • Coordinates and places orders for data and voice communication services as required by all levels of NEXCOM technical staff, including, but not limited to local, long distance, commercial and government services. • Maintain the security and integrity of all network operations systems for hardware, software, data, and voice, which includes but not limited to: RMF, STIGs/PCI regulation, and IS/IA controls • Participates in a 24•hour/7 day on•call rotation for overall network support. • Provides oral and written reports to all levels of the Code I management chain. • Perform other related duties as assigned. IAT2 jobs: This position is designated IT•2 (Non•critical • Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M•5510.30 and will require a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Department of the Navy (DON) Cyber Information Technology / Cybersecurity Workforce positions (Cyber IT/CSWF) This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 44 and as a condition of employment incumbents of this position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M•5239.2, which include: 1. Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M•5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and; 2. Per SECNAVINST 1543.2, Cyber IT/CSWF individuals shall participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning (CL) activities to be documented in a current individual development plan (IDP) signed by both the employee and supervisor. 3. Required Minimum Cybersecurity Credentials, in order of precedence, to qualify for the position are: a. Education (at least one of the following): i. Associate Degree from accredited University (subject matter as listed in SECNAV M•5239.2 Appendix 4) ii. EC•Council Network Security Administrator (NSA) iv. GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) v. Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) 4. Operating System/Computing Environment Certificate Operating System/Computing Environment (OS/CE) certificate of training, as dictated by the Command Cyber IT/CSWF Program Manager: Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) • (pass the associated vendor exam(s) or Skill Port version of same) 5. A Signed Privileged Access Statement 6. Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification(s) within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain this requirement will result in termination of employment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in administrative, technical or investigative work that demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical, managerial or analytical work involving management information systems.

OR

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree in a business/information systems discipline for 3 years of general experience.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressive experience in general Information technology, including computer networks consisting of WAN, LAN, WLAN, and VoIP. Experience should include cable plant design/management, installation and support of telephony/network end•points (e.g., PCs, analog phones, VoIP telephones, etc.) and network devices (e.g., routers, switches, access points, wireless bridges, VoIP servers, etc.).
