Lead Cable Technician willing to travel
Virginia, Richmond, 23234 Richmond USAVi-Tel Inc is seeking experienced Structured Cable Technicians willing to travel nationally to assist teams with ongoing projects in a variety of environments.
Ideal candidates would possess the following:
Candidates MUST have experience working with a variety of cabling, such as, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, and coax. Single mode and multimode fiber optic experience is a plus.
Your experience should include, leading a team, reading blue prints, great customer communication, pulling cable, securing cables in raceways and trays, dressing cabling into racks, terminations on field end as well as rack end, testing and labeling. Experience with installing and setting of IDF/MDF racks/cabinets and adding patch panels is a plus as well.
Vi-Tel and our clients are looking for candidates who can work with minimal supervision and will pay great attention to detail.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Leading a team of cable techs
Reading Blue Prints
Pulling and routing various cabling from field end to rack
Terminating data jacks in field
Terminating patch panels on rack end
Terminating phone blocks
Possibly installing cabling supports such as ladder racks, cable hangers/hooks
Testing terminations
Labeling
Setting cabinets and/or racks
Reading bule prints
Communicating with your team and lead tech
Scope of Work:
Preforming cabling duties including pulling, routing, terminating, testing, and labeling cabling in a commercial environment.
Working from scissor and/or boom lifts when required
Ownership of various basic hand tools and power tools to include but not limited to, snips, punch down tool, wire strippers, cordless drill, and PPE (hard hat, boots, and safety glasses)
Familiarity with BICSI and NEC Standards
Flexibility of working day or night shift depending on client need.
