Department Summary:MITRE’s Human and Organizational Systems (HOS) department partners with our federal sponsors, other federal agencies, the private sector, and academia in tackling some of the most critical national and global challenges related to – but not limited to – healthcare, cybersecurity, aerospace and transportation, defense, and homeland security. Our department members conduct research, develop technical capabilities, and apply innovative solutions for aligning people, processes, and technology-related changes to achieve strategic outcomes. HOS engagements include short-term, targeted organizational change projects and large-scale, complex enterprise transformation programs.Roles & Responsibilities:
Supporting the development of strategies for Organizational Change Management (OCM), stakeholder engagement, and communications that provide people-centric approaches for transitioning from the current operating environment to the desired future state in a variety of contexts (e.g., organizational restructuring, business model innovation, IT modernization, etc.)
Advising project teams to support sponsors on organizational and workforce risks, and implementing mitigations that minimize operational disruptions to enhance organizational performance and support change adoption
Supporting the design and implementation of organizational assessments, including analysis of findings and development of recommendations
Contributing to the development of HOS knowledge and skills (i.e., frameworks, methods, tools) via direct project work and/or MITRE’s independent research program
Supporting the design and facilitation of meetings, workshops, and other in-person or virtual convenings to align and mobilize stakeholders towards a shared goal
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, to include subject matter experts, cross-disciplinary project management teams, and partners.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD TS/SCI clearance
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience in Organizational Change Management, Organization Development, Project Management, or Operations Management.
Demonstrated experience with:
Organization Development or Organizational Change Management with a focus on enterprise transformations, organizational assessments, organizational design, organizational agility, organizational culture, team performance, and/or leadership
Using research methods and frameworks in several of the following areas: organization development, organizational agility, change management, organizational assessments, organizational design, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and/or large-scale systems modernization and enterprise program transformations.
Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis, identifying key insights, and communicating findings to inform decisions
Developing strategies and action plans (e.g., organizational change management, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement)
Meeting design and facilitation
Developing and delivering effective presentations
Working with leaders and teams to build effective working relationships across diverse groups of stakeholders
Being adaptable and working in ambiguous situations
Working effectively in a matrixed, client-facing environment
Communicating effectively orally and in writing
Applying data visualization techniques
Using Microsoft Office applications
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
MS, MBA, or PhD in Organization Development, Organizational Leadership and Management, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Neuroscience, or Psychology
Application of frameworks, models, and methods related to change management, organizational assessments, team performance, leadership development and/or strategic communications and analysis
Demonstrated experience with:
Business innovation processes and approaches (e.g., Design Thinking, Customer Experience Design, Agile Systems Design)
Management consulting in the federal government sector
Managing project plans, task plans, action plans, and teams
Mentoring junior staff in career and professional development
Leading groups/teams
Applying data visualization techniques
Familiarity with multiple federal agencies/departments
Familiarity with and interest in emerging technologies, such as AI, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Robotics, Virtual Reality, etc.
