JMT is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position SummaryJMT is seeking a highly motivated individual, in Virginia, who has the desire to grow the water and wastewater sections in a collaborative and progressive workplace. This position has excellent potential for career advancement including helping develop the water/wastewater engineering practice in the state and supporting national growth into other regions. This candidate will be responsible for working with the existing section leadership in the state and assisting with project delivery, staff development and growth, quality control processes, and business development planning and execution. The candidate will be expected to coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and internal staff.In addition to the technical and project management skills, the successful candidate will have experience with and the desire to fully understand the business side of the practice including business development, client management, financial performance, staff development, and overseeing the quality of our products and services.Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Coordinate strategic growth plan with office leaders and sections heads

Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development

Manage financial budget for regional practice and allocate resources accordingly

Lead and contribute to the production of proposals and client interviews

Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff

Establish resources staffing needs for the practice on a regional level

Interview and make recommendations for hiring staff for the practice

Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.

Required Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program

Professional Engineer License (Virginia or ability to obtain through reciprocity)

15+ years’ experience in specialized discipline

Project management and business development experience

Experience working with local Hampton Roads clients at the city, county and municipal level

Qualifications Preferred

Supervisory experience of a consulting business or unit

Demonstrated industry involvement and participation in a significant manner

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment, with flexibility for working from home. This position is flexible in location, with offices in Virginia Beach, Richmond and Herndon. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking.
