The Building + Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking an Estimator for immediate employment for work in AECOM’s office in Arlington, VA.   This position is responsible for activities related to estimating all the elements of project cost, including labor, materials and permanent equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, and construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation and program risk, etc.This role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:Provides estimates for each project phase: conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction documentsPrepare detailed cost estimates via industry-accepted methods such as RS Means for small and large projects.  Estimates shall be provided in UNIFORMAT II and CSI formatAbility to concentrate in one or more of the estimating disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil and structuralPrepares or assists in the preparation of order-of-magnitude, preliminary, definitive, change orders, and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniquesPrepares material, equipment, and labor take-offsPerforms cost comparison analyses between in-house estimates and contractor estimatesWorks with Project Managers and other disciplines to evaluate appropriateness of budgetsUtilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for cost estimatesPrepares project and discipline estimate summaries Basis of EstimateEstablishes and maintains cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis toolsLeads the estimate reconciliation process with the project team.Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates, and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.Maintains consistent and period communications with other estimatorsPrepares and/or coordinates preparation of full project estimatesIntroduced to the Company estimating systems and processes Introduced to estimating terminology, measures, concepts, and principles for preparing estimatesExposed to various processes, project actions, and assumptions that may impact estimatesGathers, calculates, and compiles data for use in developing all types of estimatesPerforms the routine aspects of estimating assignmentsAssists senior specialists in performing various estimating functions as requiredExposed to drawings, specifications, work breakdown structures, charts of accounts, published and internal data used in preparing estimates
