Position Summary:The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant II assists physicians providing patient care by preparing patients for examination and diagnostic testing.Position Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for preparing exam rooms for patients. Maintains instruments and equipment.

Prepares patients for physician’s exam. Performs testing based on patient needs and physician preference.

Assists in organizing and planning of patient care and follow-up, including major/minor procedures and diagnostic testing. Assists Ophthalmologist with surgical procedures as necessary.

Maintains operating room according to sterile technique, scrubbing, gowning and gloving procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:Current Ophthalmic Assistant Certification (COA, COT, or COMT) ORCPR Certification is requiredMinimum Education:High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum Experience:Two (2) years of clinical experience in Ophthalmology. Completion of an accredited program in Ophthalmology may substitute for the experience requirement.
