Regency Community Services goal, through our professional nurses is to provide optimal, high quality healthcare services for all consumers. The nursing department will utilize professional knowledge and skills, collaboration with other medical professionals, team members and family to provide continuous nursing care. High quality services refer to the care provided by nurses with gentleness, love, respect, consideration and active attitude to meet consumers multiple needs in relation to their physical and mental health and varied disabilities. The nursing department will operate with openness and wiliness to investigate when a problem is identified or arises with an obligation to act. Nurses are to help and guide consumer, guardians, and staff at any time to facilitate health and welfare services.
The Contract Registered Nurse is to oversee the nursing department ensuring quality of care and consistency of services provided by all nursing staff. Ensure all Company, state and Federal guidelines are met, documentation, charts, reporting and billing is done efficiently and accurately.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following and other duties may be assigned.
1. Observe, report, and treat appropriately to the physical and behavioral needs of the consumers, providing first-aid and other medical treatment as required.
2. Initiate first response on all reported incidents of injury or illness.
3. Conduct body checks and complete physical review of each Consumer’s health status.
4. Attend Medical appointments when necessary.
5. Maintain direct communication with the attending physician by reporting physical changes and physical condition of consumers.
6. Assure that physician orders are transcribed correctly and that accurate documentation is maintained.
7. Report and maintain communication with the legal guardian regarding physical conditions of consumer, of physician’s findings and recommendations.
8. Supervise licensed RN and LVN staff.
9. Maintain continuity among nursing team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
10. Ensure continuity in all aspects of the nursing department.
11. Provide training to nursing staff, consumer’s families and staff members in accordance with individual’s health related issues.
12. Monitor and provide nursing training to newly hired staff at orientation training and ongoing training to all staff in the areas of self-medication, RN delegation, medication safety and individualized needs.
13. Maintain familiarity with all Standards of Principles.
14. Conduct and complete comprehensive assessments, including self-medication on each consumer upon admission, and as needed or deemed necessary by the Service Planning Team, thereafter. Complete health care plans based on consumer’s health care needs as determined by assessment information.
15. Provide training to direct service providers and family members who are responsible for performing, monitoring, reporting, and documenting specific individual treatment plans for a specific consumer.
16. Attend quarterly site clinic meetings.
17. Report all changes; ensure all changes are implemented within the work week.
18. Observe and or monitor medication administration processes routinely in the homes to ensure accuracy, technique and continuity of care. Routinely train staff to ensure the self medication administration process is occurring accurately to lessen the possibility of error.
19. Conduct checks of medication storage, med counts, and medication administration records to assure correct compliance within the Standards.
20. Monitor medication errors; participate in review committee to determine employee disciplinary steps following established HR guidelines.
21. Complete special needs forms for all consumers and keep updated as changes occur.
22. Complete all assessments and give to the IP C/FC coordinators seven days before the PDP.
23. Visit annually face to face all foster care consumers and their legal guardians.
24. Perform all nursing needs for ICF consumers; assessments, medical need, records meeting all consumer and guardian needs.
25. Assist in the maintaining, responsibility, and accountability for the proper charting and documentations of care and of medications and treatments.
26. Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
27. Complete and submit billing daily and/or weekly to ensure medical services are documented timely and submitted to the billing department.
28. Schedule weekly and as needed meetings with the Program Director to communicate and up-date the progress and/or concerns of the nursing department.

Operational Principles – Ability to work within the perimeters and limits of assigned responsibility and refer to the Program Director for assistance when clarification or actions is required. Keep Regency Community Services Inc information from any source, form, paper or electronic record or oral communication strictly confidential. Access to confidential information is permitted only on a need-to-know basis and limited to the minimum amount of information necessary to accomplish the intended purpose of the use, discloser or request. Violation of release of confidential information will constitute grounds for termination of employment. Falsification of documents is considered Medicaid fraud and disciplinary actions up to and including termination may occur.
Standard of Compliance - Registered Nurses must meet the criteria needs of the persons enrolled in the HCS and ICF/DD programs. Be available for on-call rotation to assess consumer health needs. Attend scheduled in-services, continuing education/training and staff meetings unless otherwise authorized. Maybe required to work non-standard hours.
Minimum Qualifications – Clinical supervisors must maintain a nursing license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, in addition to: a Valid Texas Drivers License, current automobile insurance, excellent computer skills, good communication, organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Be energetic with a positive can-do attitude and exhibit a professional demeanor.
Physical Demands – The position requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, see, talk, hear and drive to remote locations away from the central office. In addition to, occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, physical demands also include; sufficient physical strength and ability to lift/support an average person and the ability to stay alert at all times. It is important for you to be able to mentally access yourself, your environment and the status of others.
