Purchasing Assistant
Texas, Houston, 77001 Houston USAWe are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support our purchasing and sales departments, ensuring that projects are completed safely, accurately, and within tight deadlines to meet both quality standards and customer expectations.
The Purchasing Assistant is an entry-level position that plays a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our supply chain. You will be responsible for providing administrative and operational support, assisting with the preparation of key procurement documents, and tracking orders to ensure timely deliveries.

Support the Purchasing Department in preparing RFQs (Request for Quotation), RFPs (Request for Proposal), and purchase orders.
Collaborate with the Sales team to obtain pricing from suppliers for RFQs.
Assist in tracking open orders, updating procurement statuses, and maintaining detailed reports.
Work with the Accounting team to resolve supplier invoicing discrepancies.
Communicate with suppliers to address missed deliveries, short shipments, and other order issues.
Contribute to team objectives by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate Degree or B.Sc. in Supply Chain or related fields preferred)
Minimum two years experience in a purchasing position
Proficient in purchasing functions, supply and inventory management.
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Must be a detail-oriented team player with ability to prioritize, multitask and work with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills, understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain vendor relationships
Experience with spreadsheet computer applications a must
Dependable and Reliable production orientation
Position is based at a manufacturing/fabrication shop, climate-controlled shop environment.
Interaction with machine shop employees with varying experience, engineers, supervisors as well as third-party inspectors, as needed.
Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery
Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
Strong attention to detail
Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform inspection duties in a fabrication/manufacturing shop, as needed.
Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
Ability to communicate technical concepts and materials specifications, written and verbal
