The primary purpose of this position is to provide exceptional patient-facing research care for the Lymphoma Observational & Translational Research (LOTR) program within the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma. The incumbent provides education to patients on research protocols and is knowledgeable about proper human subject research guidelines.Job Specific Competencies:Clinical Research Support (70%)· Perform informed consent procedures for minimal risk research protocols in accordance with institutional policies and research guidelines.· Screen for and identify patients based on protocol eligibility and exclusion criteria.· Provide patients with adequate education to consider enrollment in research studies for which they meet enrollment criteria.· Assist patients in completing study questionnaires and other study procedures.Translational Research Support (20%)· Screen for and identify standard of care biospecimen collections needed for research.· Collect and distribute research biospecimens to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.· Enter order requests within the institutional Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and ensure research supplies are available to clinical staff for successful collections.· Coordinate with clinical trial teams to assist with sample collection.· Process biospecimen samples in a laboratory setting as needed.Data Entry (10%)· Accurately record patient data from Electronic Medical Record into study databases.· Document sample collection details.· Record outcomes of study visits with patients into study databases.Analytical Thinking: Gather relevant information systematically; break down problems into simple components; make sound decisions.Develop Oneself: Pursue learning and self-development; actively seek feedback; transfer learning into next steps; set high standards of performance; drive for results and achievement.Influence Others: Present a compelling case for proposals and ideas; advocate for support and commitment from others; mobilize others to take action for benefit of the institution.Professionalism: Employee demonstrates commitment to collaborative professional relationships with physicians and all members of the heath care team.Teamwork: Initiate, develop, and manage relationships and networks; encourage collaboration and input from all team members; value the contributions of all team members; balance individual and team goals.EDUCATION:Required: High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred degree: Bachelor's degree in public health, biology, life sciences, or other related fieldEXPERIENCERequired: Two years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience requiredPreferred: Experience working with patients in a research, public health, or healthcare setting.
