Staff Accountant

Description If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Robert Half for you to check out at a growing firm. In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will have charge over many aspects of internal reporting. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Houston, Texas based firm has a long-term contract / contract / temporary to permanent position available, and offers an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.What you get to do every single day

Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision

Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP Requirements - Proficient in ERP systems

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Recent and relevant accounting experience

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills

Strong attention to detail

Bank Account Reconciliation experience

Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

Experience with month end closings

Accounts Payable (AP) experience

Adeptness in commercial real estate

Cash reconciliations experience

Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
