Key Functions
Recruit patients and collect epidemiological data and biological sample for an epidemiological research project in GI Medical Oncology.
Identify eligible patients, administer research survey, and accrue patients to an epidemiology study of biliary cancer. Explains the research project to patients, conduct interviews using questionnaires.
Coordinates the control of paper flow for protocols and patient survey data for entry into the epidemiology database and register recruited patient into PDMS. Maintain detailed and accurate records on both recruited and non-recruited patients.
Follow up recruited patients for return of questionnaire. Check the quality of the questionnaire data. Identify and recruit control subjects from MDACC clinics for the same study.
Responsible for maintaining a log of the collection of blood samples.
Work harmoniously with GI staff, physicians, patients and their families, and members of other departments.
Responsible for consenting all new biliary cancer cases for accessing their archived tissue specimen and send it for genomic profiling
Responsible for consenting illegible pancreatic and biliary cancer patients, collect their saliva and send it for genomic profiling
Responsible for collecting the biliary cancer fresh surgically resected tissue samples. Other duties as assigned.
