Director of Finance (City/Municipality)

Description Robert Half is looking for a Director of Finance to join our client- city/municipality experience required! The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, management, technology, analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills as part of the management team. Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures

Comply with all budgetary reporting requirements, including local, state, and federal

Prepare financial analysis for product investment decisions and contract negotiations

Supervise risk and insurance management

Compare monthly operating results against budget

Develop and monitor an organizational structure in order to accomplish department goals and objectives

Work with department managers to develop five-year business plans

Analyze and monitor forecasting and budgeting models

Hire and train employees, especially finance staff, and manage retention

Direct, review, and prepare budget management and financial planning functions

Decide on benchmarks for comparing the operating and financial performance

Prepare financial outlooks and forecasts

Oversee the preparation of all financial reports

Manage daily operations of the finance and accounting department

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

Prior experience with finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Strong analytical thinking and a detail-oriented mindset

Efficiency in a variety of accounting and financial reporting systems

MBA or CPA is preferred

Experience with higher level functionality in Microsoft Excel

10+ years of accounting and finance experience
