Sales Floor Manager Job Description
The job description of a sales manager involves managing a group of Life Insurance sales agents as they sell final expense insurance policies to prospects over the phone. The sales manager spends time on the sales floor reenforcing the sales efforts of the agent, evaluating sales performance, and motivating agents to reach daily sales goals through strong leadership and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Sales Floor Manager
Manages the sales center’s team of licensed agents, both employed and 1099 independent contractor
Must understand basic HR and labor laws in order to manage both employees and independent contractors appropriately
Circulates the room periodically every day to listen to conversations and provide instructions.
Remains available at all times for agents’ questions and concerns.
Monitors numbers of calls that agents handle each hour to ensure each agent is taking the required number of calls.
Reviews all sales reports and takes initiative to improve individual agents’ performance with training
Meets with management to report the progress of the sales agent team.
Provides helpful feedback and positive communication to motivate sales agents.
Runs regular meetings with the sales agent team. Keeps up with industry news.
Trains sales agents on new computer or telephone equipment as well as new products and services offered by the company. As well as daily re-training sessions.
Communicates any company policy and procedure changes to sales agents
Makes sure agents participate in continuing education to maintain any required certifications.
Maintains any certifications the company requires of sales managers through continuing education or advanced training.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have excellent leadership and management skills.
Must have superior written and verbal communication skills.
Should have excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
Must possess excellent keyboarding skills.
Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of basic telephone technology, including Excel and Word
Good organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
Must have good interpersonal and active listening skills.
Must have strong analytical skills.
Ability to handle delicate HR situations that might arise, while maintaining compliance with labor laws
Education and Experience
Texas Life Insurance License
High School diploma.
Minimum 2 years experience as sales manager
Minimum 2 years experience in management handling a variety of HR situations
Experience with computer and telephone equipment and software relevant to the industry.
Compensation
Salaried position with monthly bonus based on performance- possible 6 figure income
