About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation. Responsibilities Manufacture parts and complete items of equipment from raw stock of different kinds of metals and metal alloys and other materials. Grind and sharpen tools including standard and form tools. Use various bench-mounted and hand-held powered and non-powered tools such as drills, reamers, and buffers. Determine work procedures, machines, tools, equipment and attachments to be used. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist, WG-09, without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Machine Tool Operator duties such as assisting the Machinist in setting up and operating most types of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools. Assisting the Machinist with lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, and universal milling machines. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist, WG-10, without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform the common Machinist duties which includes setting up and operating most types of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, and universal milling machines; internal and external grinders; thread cutters; and radial drills. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist, WG-11, without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Machinist duties including independently interpreting and applying sets and series of interrelated prints and drawings. I can perform the setup operation and programming of one or more manual, computer aided, or Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine tools. Determine the best tooling material, tool types, coolants, and machine feeds and speeds in performing a particular machining operation. Use machinist tools such as lathes, grinding machines, and milling machines. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching; and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. May be required to climb and work on aircraft, in test cells, and other areas outside the shop area. Working Conditions: Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment as required. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the work. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Materiel Maintenance Management Career Field Position Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
