Texas, Beaumont / port arthur, 77701 Beaumont / port arthur USAPosition Information Posting Number 20112995 Position Title Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach FTE 1.0 Position Type Staff Department Sports Performance Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role:The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will provide expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for all student-athletes and sports teams at Lamar University. This role will design and implement strength and conditioning programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury. The position will also assist the strength and conditioning department by designing and implementing programs, regularly testing the student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs and maintaining accurate records of student-athlete’s progress.What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
Works directly with the Head S&C Coach – Olympic Sports to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes for assigned sports.
Conduct regular testing of student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs and provide feedback to the Head S&C Coach – Olympic Sports.
Maintain accurate records of student-athlete’s progress for student athletes, reporting progress of student-athletes to the Associate S&C Coach/Director of Football Performance and the respective head coach.
Assist with the scheduling and daily upkeep of strength & conditioning facilities.
Provide for the proper supervision of student-athletes to ensure that all student-athletes receive proper instruction on the safe usage of weight machines and free weights.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies:
Ability to collaborate with other staff members within the Lamar University Athletics department
Knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and cardiovascular conditioning.
Demonstrate the ability to motivate a variety of student-athletes.
Demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities.
Strict adherence to established NCAA , Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Often moves supplies and equipment in excess of 50 pounds
Job Conditions:
Position functions may take place indoors, as well as outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to the position summary and essential job functions and
1-2 years relevant experience in a collegiate athletic setting or comparable.
