Purpose:The company requires an individual that can fit the role of a buildings desktop assessor to form part of our unique team.Core to the role is contributing to: Validation of claims compared to the various insurance policiesQuantification and cost management in determining the scope of work compared to agreed rates on buildings related claimsThe types of claims dealt with include any building related claims such as burst geysers & pipes with resultant damage, storm damage to properties, flooring, interior cosmetic repairs to properties, electrical work etc. The role requires an individual with strong technical knowledge of the buildings industry and the associated cost and workmanship variables.Attributes:The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following:A way of work that anticipates the requirements of various stakeholders when engaging through all mediums of communicationA passion for consensus-based decision makingThe ability to deliver in a high-pressure, innovative environmentCuriosity and comfort with numbers and large data setsA level of influence that creates buy-in and win-win outcomes with stakeholdersExcellent negotiation skillsThe ability to engage at strategic, tactical and operational levels of the businessExcellent verbal and written interpersonal skillsOwnership of personal developmentResponsibilities Validation of claims according to the various insurance policies in place;Liaising with clients and service providersFinalise all reports and administrationMaking decisions, handle all administration and telephonic queries arising around thatQuantification by either drafting a scope of work and finalizing the cost of the claim according to agreed rates or comparing quotations and reports received from service providers and clients compared to the scope of work and agreed ratesManaging the cost from the start of the claim until the claim is finalized within the set parameters and agreed scope of work;Handling and resolving complaints and queries from clients, internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders such as builders, engineers etc.Conduct all the above to the required performance and quality standards that are in placeSkills and Competencies Strong administrative capabilityGood report writing skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)Technical buildings and construction experienceComputer literacy is essential with MS Excel and MS Word being core competenciesSelf-disciplined and self-motivatedShould be able to work independently in an unstructured environmentJudgment and problem-solving skillsNegotiation skillsStress toleranceTenacity and resilienceCustomer service orientedDeadline and results orientedAttention to detailAdaptability
